A rarely recognized label, Bonny’s Vineyard, comes from the Meyer Family Winery who used to own Silver Oak. Bonny’s vineyard in particular provided much of the fruit for Silver Oak for over two decades. For those looking for the glory days of Silver Oak look no further than this hidden jewel. Easily one of my favorite wines; the deep love and care taken by Justin Meyer shines through with every sip. Perfect with Spring lamb this cabernet sauvignon has a nice acidity with a brightness of fruit to not overwhelm your palate but to caress and please. |
Since my last posting you know I love beer, I love big beers that will come up and grab you and never let go. Let’s face it though, with warmer weather a Flemish red doesn’t sound too bad. Big alcohol is forgiven for something lighter and more refreshing that goes well with fish and chips, which has always been my summer go to, I don’t know why but it has. This sour has all the complexity you could ever want in a Flemish red with a balance that is unrivaled. Not overly sour to be a turn off; it compliments food or can be easily enjoyed on a warm Spring day. I would highly suggest this beer for anyone looking to start getting into wonderful sours. At only 5.5% alcohol and with the wonderful balance, go ahead and enjoy a few of these gems while you sit at a BBQ or just relax in the sun. |
As Spring has sprung and Easter has come and gone I am more and more in the mood for refreshing and light drinks. My favorite is and always will be a Midori sour, say what you will about it but every once in a while I like to bring out my gentler side and enjoy a refreshing cocktail. Created by the Suntory distillery in Japan Midori means green in Japanese, but not just any green, a verdant, emerald green and does this beautiful liqueur deliver on its name. If you’re looking for something to enjoy in this beautiful weather I highly suggest this melon delight.
